The Beauty Of Furoshiki

The furoshiki is a scarf-like square shaped cloth which is usually made of silk or cotton most of which are decorated with beautiful designs. Designs such as flowers, scenery or sometimes even the family crest.

In Japan the furoshiki is used for wrapping and carrying things. The meaning of furoshiki literally means bath cloth and was originally used to wrap a person’s clothes in when they visited a public bath.

Japanese furoshiki are very beautiful and a custom that we love, however we have seen a decline of furoshiki being used by younger people in recent years.

We love to use furoshiki for our every day use and find them very useful.
